TD Securities and S&P Global emerge successful at SCORES Cup 2022

On Saturday June 25, twenty corporate and community soccer teams came together at Pier 40 in Lower Manhattan for America SCORES New York’s 15th annual SCORES Cup, enjoying a day of exciting competition that led to two champions and a great amount of support for our social justice youth development program.

Over 250 players proudly wore the colors of their teams in support of ASNY’s young people, as seen in the wonderful photos by photographer (and referee!) Luis Fonseca (SayCheeseKidz.com).

SCORES Cup is New York's premier corporate soccer tournament and one of America SCORES New York's largest fundraisers, where all proceeds go to support our soccer, poetry and civic engagement after-school programming, impacting public school students in Harlem, Washington Heights, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

Despite the heat of the day, our players stayed energized thanks to the diligence of our incredible volunteers, many of whom started the day as early as 6 AM. By staying throughout the day, encouraging teams and helping the day run as smoothly as possible, you’ve made the event a success. We couldn't have done it without you!

Our Division 1 teams began checking in with our volunteers at 9am and while every team came to win, it came down to a final four of UPS, Odyssey Investment Partners, Symphony, and TD Securities. After a rousing final, TD Securities ultimately proved victorious on a scoreline of 2-0 over Odyssey in the decider and took home the 2022 SCORES Cup!

With ten teams, Division 2 definitely had some healthy competition and teams were eager to take home the Kicker! Cup. After some exciting games, S&P Global and Grant Thornton were left to battle it out when they moved past Fox Sports / Kicking it Forward and Macquarie in the semi-finals. ASNY Board members Ken Shimokawa and Diego Weisvein were joined by Junior Board member Nico Fedus to lead the S&P Global outfit to a 1-0.

We could not have asked for a more wonderful day! A huge thanks to the volunteer referees, (organized by Luis Fonseca and Michael Machado) who worked hard all day in the heat to keep games on an even keel - without their experience and support, this would be impossible.

Finally, a huge thank you to our corporate sponsors! This event was made successful thanks to your commitment to our city and its young people, with $130,000 being raised for our program!

Looking forward to 2023!
